For 50 incredible years, the All West Regionals has been a cornerstone of the NBTA calendar—evolving from local contests to a major national qualifier. Founded in 1947 by Don Sartell, NBTA’s motto “Winning is Participating!” lives in every spin. The All West Regional Championships, a key event in the NBTA calendar, have been held annually for nearly five decades, with the 49th event occurring in 2025. This competition serves as a qualifier for NBTA’s national events, such as America’s Youth on Parade (AYOP), and is a significant platform for twirlers to showcase their skills and advance in competitive status. The championships have evolved from local contests to a major regional event, fostering a vibrant community of twirlers, coaches, and supporters, and emphasizing NBTA’s motto, “Winning is Participating!” Founded in 1947 by Don Sartell, NBTA has shaped the sport, with Region 9 playing a crucial role in promoting baton twirling on the West Coast.
Events: Competitions include solo twirling, strut, multiple baton (2-baton, 3-baton), rhythmic twirl, collegiate twirl, show twirl, team events, and pageant events like Miss Majorette and Basic Skills Competition. Events are categorized by skill levels (1st Time Solo, Special Novice, Novice, Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced) and age divisions.
Eligibility: All West Regional (AWR) and pageant events are open to residents of Region 9 states only. Visitor events allow non-residents to compete.
Significance: The event is a qualifier for NBTA nationals, with top performers earning banners, crowns, and advancement opportunities.
