Championship Clinic

Meet our clinic instructor Kaitlyn Boyer!

Introducing our next clinic instructor! Kaitlyn Boyer has been passionate about baton twirling since she was 11. Although she began twirling later than many might anticipate, given her family’s deep involvement in the sport, Kaitlyn quickly fell in love with it from the moment she started.

Throughout her twirling career, she participated in three World Championships in 2009, 2012, and 2015, securing several gold medals and a silver in both individual and team events. She also attended the inaugural Grand Prix. Kaitlyn pursued her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech, where she showcased her talents as a feature twirler. During her time there, she served as the student athletic trainer for the Men’s Basketball Team, igniting her passion for treating sports injuries. After Virginia Tech, Kaitlyn attended the University of Maryland, Baltimore, for Physical Therapy school, where she earned the nickname “Twirlz.” On graduation day, she was celebrated as Dr. Twirlz. She then completed her orthopedic residency at the Memorial Hermann Rockets Sports Medicine Institute in Houston, TX.

In 2020, Kaitlyn was able to combine her two passions of Baton Twirling and Physical Therapy with the hope of decreasing overuse injuries. This is when Dr.Twirlz was born, which is a platform to decrease injuries through education to coaches and judges on proper strength and conditioning principles, and workouts created for twirlers based off what our bodies need the most with the biomechanics of twirling. Kaitlyn has treated Olympians, NFL players, and D1 athletes of a variety of sports, but focuses on treating the artistic sports including gymnastics, baton twirling, and dancers through Dr.Twirlz!

Kaitlyn is now back in Maryland where she is helping to direct the team her grandmother started, the Dynamics Dance Twirl Team. She enjoys coaching, judging, and traveling the country meeting new twirlers and connecting with twirlers she grew up with. When she is not twirling, you can find her hanging out and traveling the world with her yellow lab, Lane. She is excited to head to the World Baton Twirling Championships in August 2025 as a part of Team USA, but this time as a coach with the Dynamics.
